I'm in Las Vegas teaching Reiki today

Good morning...I love this 30 day blog challenge. It helps me to think of ways to communicate what is happening in my life and my work.

I left sunny California yesterday to arrive in sunny-er Las Vegas to teach a Reiki level 1 class today, (Sunday) and a Chakralicious, Mini-treatments class tomorrow, (Monday).

Reiki is a wonderful hands-on healing modality that lifts your spirits and brings you to balance. I started using it on myself almost 20 years ago to heal from depression and it worked!

Reiki helps to quiet the mind and calm the emotions so you feel more at peace and comfortable being yourself. It helps to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, pain and more. It is one of the things in life you need to experience to understand it.

So here I was an image consultant and make-up artist in San Francisco in the 1980's teaching others about how to be authentic inside and out and I was suffering from bouts of depression every year. It wasn't easy. I felt like I had so much to offer and then I would get knocked down by this depression. I am sure it had something to do with my mother suffering from depression too and taking her own life...but that is another story for later.

Anyway, one night I found myself making the big choice...do I join my mom or stay here? A little voice told me "don't do it" and I decided to stay. I knew I had to heal myself from depression and here I am. In my quest to heal myself, I found Reiki and started using it on myself regularly. That is where I learned about how we need to heal our "energy body" even more than the mind. Because when you heal the spirit, your emotions, mind and physical body get balanced as a result.

I was happy just using Reiki on myself and friends and family until 9/11 happened. Then I got the calling to teach this wonderful healing modality. I realized that there are lots of people who are stressed out and depressed and that I have a solution to this problem. So in 2001 I got my Reiki master training and started performing energy make-overs, teaching my students how to have more balance in their lives.

Chakralicously yours, Linda

  2. What a lovely story!! Very moving and encouraging, especially as I think about how bogged down I can get in my own "story", as if it is a doorless, windowless room. It helps to be reminded that we all have stories and that healing is a ever-present door!

I am a reiki master, too, but have not done any teaching on a grand scale (family, friends). I have focused more on teaching. But now I want to do what you're doing, fill the world with healers!

I'm so glad you're a part of the blog30 challenge!

  3. Linda,

I can relate quite well to your story. I, too, suffered from depression and worked in a career that outwardly looked perfect, but inwardly was killing me.

I discovered Reiki when I was searching for modalities to help calm my dogs - one who had a brain tumor, the other serious ear infections. Reiki relaxed both of them to the point of sleep.

I would use Reiki on myself and I credit it with giving me the gumption to quit my old job and pursue new, heartfelt things.

Following your heart isn't easy, and the world is better of that you have.

Glad you're part of the 30 Day Blog Challenge!

  4. Thank you all for your comments. I have discovered our common humanity in my work and travels. Healing is an ongoing process that is better when shared with others. We inspire each other to continue on our paths. It is time to heal so we can all start supporting each other to do what we do best.
